Description	:	Anna Caroline Burkard was born 2 Mar 1893 in Glencoe, Minnesota to Bertha W. (Wilhelm) and George W. Burkard. Anna was their only child to live past age 5. Anna's father died when she was 12-13 and Bertha and her mother Bertha moved to North Dakota about that time. Bertha's father, Frederick Wilhelm, came to live with them in North Dakota also. In 1910 Anna graduated from high school in Jamestown, North Dakota, then she taught school. Read More	Anna Caroline Burkard was born 2 Mar 1893 in Glencoe, Minnesota to Bertha W. (Wilhelm) and George W. Burkard. Anna was their only child to live past age 5. Anna's father died when she was 12-13 and Bertha and her mother Bertha moved to North Dakota about that time. Bertha's father, Frederick Wilhelm, came to live with them in North Dakota also. In 1910 Anna graduated from high school in Jamestown, North Dakota, then she taught school. Anna married Ervin Raymond Michel on 30 Jun 1915 in Jamestown and they had two children: Marion Lenore Michel Sommars and Raymond Ervin Michel. Ervin farmed about 3 miles south of Jamestown, North Dakota. Nam was a housewife and helped with farming. They raised chickens, pigs and dairy cows on the farm and raised mostly wheat, barley and oats. My husband had such fond memories of spending the summer with them and helping on the farm. Nam loved to bake and cook as well as gardening and flowers. She also was a very warm, kind woman who loved family and especially her nine grandchildren. Anna was affectionately called "Namie" or "Nam" by her children and grandchildren. Anna's husband Ervin died on 19 Sep 1964 at age 75 in Jamestown, North Dakota. After Ervin's death, Anna moved into Jamestown where she died 31 Oct 1973 at age 80. They are buried together in Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown.
