Brune. For her son the pall bearers were John Callahan, Bernard Weber, L.J. McShane, Peter Kolbeck, Frank G. Kolbeck and William Streff. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery. Anna Catherine Beelman was born on May 13, 1871 in Hanover, Germany and passed away on February 28, 1910 in Salem, SD at the age of 68 years, nine months and 15 days. She came to the United States in 1889 when she was 18 years old, and made her home with an uncle at Petersburg, Iowa, where she was married in Sts. Peter and Paul church on February 6, 1893, to William Westhoff. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive except Alphonse, who died the same day on which she passed away. In 1909 Mr. And Mrs. Westhoff and family came to Salem and until 1937 they lived on a farm 1.5 miles north of Salem. Three years ago this spring Mr. And Mrs. Westhoff moved into Salem. Mrs. Westhoff was a good Christian woman, a devoted wife and mother, and was held in highest esteem in this community. She had a kind and gentle disposition, a generous heart and was tolerant and understanding in thought and action. Her death is a heavy loss to her family and associates. She is survived by her husband and seven children, William Jr., Mrs. Ed Honrath, Mrs. John Purschke and Louis, all of Salem; Henry of Perham, Minnesota; John of Dyersville, Iowa; and Mrs. James Butler, of Montrose, SD, and 29 grandchildren.
