Description	:	Birth Family Anna Catherine Franzen Mathiesen was the daughter of Peter Bernhardt Franzen and his first wife, Elsia M Nickelsen, who were married in 1879. The Franzen's were residing in Clinton County, Iowa in 1880. At the time, Peter was working in a sawmill and they had one newborn son, Bernard*. Peter and Elsia later had at least two more children; ; Charlie, b ca 1884-85 in Iowa; and Anna Catherine, before Elsia passed away in 1889. On January 26, 1890, Peter married Anna Paulina Hansen. In 1895, Anna Catherine and her brother, Charlie, were residing with their father and stepmother in Clinton, and they also had two half siblings, William and Margaret, sharing the family home. NOTE: There is a B. Franzen, # 6177487, who is buried in the same cemetery as Elsia. The memorial for B. Franzen indicates a death date of Jun. 9, 1890. There are two Iowa, County Death Records, 1880-1992; one for a B. T. C. Franzen, and one for a B. P. C. Franzen. Both of these records indicate a death date of 09 Aug 1890 with the event occurring in Clinton, Clinton, Iowa. The age of the individual in these two records at time of death is 10 years. The gender is male. I suspect that the memorial for B. Franzen to be the same B. Franzen reflected in the death records, in spite of the death date discrepancy. Furthermore, due to the age at time of death and lack of any further information for Bernard, I suspect that B. Franzen is Bernard Franzen, son of Peter and Elsia.
