She married Henry Ludwigs on May 7, 1879 in Grant Township, Plymouth Co, Iowa. They were the parents of 11 children: Gerd, William, Anna, Lean, Otto, Welka, Henry, Maria, and Eilert. Lemars Globe Post - December 2, 1937 - Mrs. Henry Ludwigs, a pioneer settler in the community of Craig, passed away at her home early Wednesday morning. She was 75 years, 9 months and 8 days of age. Anna Christina Ludwigs, nee Hartmann, was born Jan 23, 1862 at Vosberg ost Friesland, Germany. During the same year, her parents emigrated to America, first settling in Illinois state and then coming to Jones county, Iowa. In 1876, they moved to the vicinity of LeMars. In 1878, she was united in marriage to Henry Ludwigs, sr., with whom she shared life's joys and sorrows for nearly 60 years. To this union, 11 children were born, three of whom preceded the mother in death. Those who mourn her departure are her aged husband, Mrs. Lena Minnets, Gerd Ludwigs, Wm. Ludwigs, Mrs. Mary Borchers, all of Chatsworth, Iowa; Mrs. Tammen, Otto, Henry, Eilert, all of Craig; and one daughter, of Fostoria, Iowa; also 37 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran church and at the time of her death was a member of St. John's Lutheran church of Craig. Funeral services will be held Saturday at one o'clock from the home and at 1:30 from the church. Interment will be made in the Grant township Lutheran cemetery. Mauer's will be in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Ludwdgs was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a fine Christian women, a true friend and neighbor, which endeared her to the hearts of her many friends and neighbors. She was born January 23, 1862 and was baptized on January 26, 1862 in Hannover, Germany - information from the Evangelische Kirche Stedesdorf church records in Germany. Anna was 9 months old when her parents, her sister Wupke- age 3; (later Wilma Lambertus), and half siblings: Ocke (Dck), Maria Gerdes (Mary), Gretje Gerdes (Elisabeth), arriving in New York, New York on October 16, 1862.
