SANBORN Mrs. Anna Burney Sanborn passed away January 8th, 1928 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Roberts of Brush Creek. Mrs. Sanborn was born at Amesbury, Mass., October 17, 1844. In 1862 she married J. Frank Sanborn and to this union six children were born, two of whom survive her. Mrs. Sanborn first came to Colorado with her husband in 1879, locating in California Gulch. In 1885 she came to Aspen, living in and near this city since that time. The first trip to Aspen was a momentous one for as they reached Mountain Boy Park they were compelled to take their wagon apart and pack it and all their supplies over the top of the pass and down to the town of Independence. The children walked and it was a real experience. She is survived by two children, a daughter, Mrs. Anna E. Roberts of Aspen and a son, George B. Sanborn of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. The many friends of Mrs. Sanborn will be grieved to learn of her death and will sympathize with her family in their bereavement. Funeral services were held from the Wilkes' Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Shumake officiating. Mrs. Lottie B. Deane sang, accompanied by Mrs. W. D. Beck.
