Description	:	Anna E. Essen, 91 of the Marshalltown Care Facility , died Thursday May 2, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Simington of the St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Valley cemetery, Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., Firday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.. She was born Dec.. 7, 1904 in the Hamilton, Kan., to William and Alice (Keating) Laidlow. She was raised and educated in Hamilton. She married Jacob Essen Aug.31, 1929, in Marshalltown. She worked several years at C.A. Dunham Co., Marshalltown. She was a member of the Saint Mary's Catholic Chuech and the Saint Mary's Council of the Catholic Women. Survivors include two nieces, Betty (Mrs. Ed) Savage of Marshalltown and Donna (Mrs John) Somerville of Troy Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; her parents; a brother John Laidlaw; and a sister, Olive Essen.
