Annie Electa Dillavou, daughter of Charles and Lucinda Baggs, was born in Connecticut August 3rd, 1848; died at the farm home of her son Fred, north of Scranton, Iowa, January 28th, 1935. Aged 86 years, 5 months and 25 days.. She came by boat to Chicago up the St. Lawrence river and across the great lakes when quite young, making her home in Piatt county, Illinois, where she was married to Robert G. Dillavou, Oct. 31st, 1867.. They moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1876, and their first home was in Bristol township, Greene county, just south of the farm home which they afterwards purchased and where they lived on the remainder of their married life. The father and husband died in 1902.. She was the mother of six children, Oliver Addison, Wilbert Jerome, Charles Clarence, Rosalba Edna, Bertha and Fred B., four of whom preceded her in death, two dying in infancy. Those who survive her are two sons, Wilbert of of Churdan and Fred of Scranton; she leaves alsonine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a half-brother, William H, Baggs of Santa Anna, California.. She was the oldest member of a well known family of Dillavou's who have resided in this community for over half a century sharing in the hardships and tasting some of the joys.. Although frail in appearance, she was energetic and ambitious to a degree and this no doubt contributed much to her being able to come so near the century mark.. She was bereft of her mother at the age of nine, and the most of the remainder of her life was given to the care of children - her brothers and sisters and two groups of grandchildren, beside her own family.. She has been a member of the Scranton Friends for some twenty years and was previous to that time connected with the Free Methodist. Her faith in God as her Savior and Friend seemed bright up to the very end. Her death came as the result of a general breakdown due to old age, having suffered some falls and alight stroke in the last year or two. She was dearly loved and will be much missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday from the Kendrick Friends church by Rev. Anna Alberry.". [The Jefferson (IA) Bee.
