Description	:	FRESNO MAN WITNESSED GIRL'S DEATH AT DELAWARE Ransom E. West, of Fresno, was witness of a most distressing accident at Delaware Tuesday afternoon. The Hocking Valley train on which he was a passanger crashed into a closed carriage at a road crossing just above that city killing the horse, smashing the carriage into kindling wood, and with tragic results to the two children who were on their way to Delaware to buy Christmas presents. Anna Darst aged 17, was killed and her brother Albert aged 15 was terribly injured, perhaps fatally. Both were children of Edward Darst, a prominent farmer. Mr. West was one of the first passengers to leap from the train and rush back to the spot where they lay. He with others, picked up the boy and carried him aboard the train. Both brother and sister were taken to Delaware station and a doctor summoned. It was one of the worst experiences I was ever in remarked Mr. West, who arrived in Coshocton last night. "I shan't get the terror of it out of my mind for days. It was a shocking tragedy." Girl Killed by Train Delaware, O., Dec 22. - En route to Delaware to do their Christmas shopping, Anna and Albert Darst, 17 and 16 years of age respectively, and children of Emory Darst, were run down by a Hocking Valley passenger train. The girl was terribly mangled and died at the hospital. The exact extent of the injuries of the young man have not yet been determined. Coshocton Daily Age December 22, 1909.
