KAIN, PIONEER RESIDENT CALLED Early Settler Succumbs At High Age-Was Born in Illinois Mrs. Thomas Kain, one of the old settlers of Plymouth County, died on Tuesday evening in her home in Le Mars at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 3 days. The funeral service was held this morning at 9 o'clock at St. James Church and the body was interred in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rev. L. J. Cooper officiated. Mrs. Kain is survived by her sons, Joe Kain at Akron, Frank and Ed at Le Mars and her daughter, Mrs. L. N. Bamberg at Alton. Her husband died in 1892, and two sons, John and Will also preceded her in death. One brother, William Mahaney, lives at Sioux City. The deceased was born Sept. 15, 1851 at Morrison, Ill., the daughter of John and Matie Mahanie. She attended the schools there and grew up to womanhood in Morrison. In 1877, on Jan. 27, she was married to Thomas Kain, and after living three years at Morrison, she accompanied her husband to Iowa, and settled at Oyens. Later they bought a place in Johnson Township where they lived until Mr. Kain's death, and Mrs. Kain continued to live there until about 10 years ago when she came to Le Mars to make her home. Mrs. Kain was a member of St. James parish and a faithful member of the Ladies' Aid Society. You were always kind and patient, All our troubles tried to share; Now we have not you to guide us, Our own burdens we must bear.
