ROBERT BARR DEPARTS THIS LIFE Anna Elizabeth Milligan, wife of Robert Barr, was born in Delaware County, Iowa, January 15th, 1859, and died in Stanton Nebraska April 17th 1920, aged 61 years, 3 months, and 2 days. She came with her parents to Stanton county, Nebraska in the fall of 1870 when she was about 12 years old. Here she attended the public schools and grew to woman-hood. On November the 21st, 1874, she was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Barr. To this union there were born ten children, three of whom have preceded her to the Spirit world. Those yet remaining are Robert Alvin, Arthur G., Bert M., Mrs. John Spence, Mrs. Brome of Pilger, Mrs. James Kingston, and Floyce Barr. They lived on their homestead north-east of town for about 40 years. In those early pioneer days, many were the privations and hardships they endured together, but by economy and wise management they succeeded in gathering to themselves quite a reasonable competency. In the year 1909 they decided to leave the farm and move to Stanton. They purchased for themselves a house in the east part of town, where they resided until this spring. Being anxious that they might live in a more modern and convenient home, they planned for a new house in the west part of Stanton. Much of the planning and arranging of the new house was supervised by Mrs. Barr herself. With her children all living near her and doing well, and Mr. and Mrs. Barr living in a comfortable and cozy home in town, the conditions seemed to be ideal for many years of happiness and comfort together. But suddenly all the plans were broken. Without almost any warning Mrs. Barr suddenly slipped away. She went out of the little human plans that we make, into the larger and more perfect plan of which the earthly is but a dimm and shadow reflection. She died very suddenly and unexpectedly, supposedly of Heart Failure. Mrs. Barr was a noble Christian woman. She was kind to everybody. Her gentle face and kindly ways won for her a large place in the affections of all who knew her. In the language of the Book of Wisdom, "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed." Early in life she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and lived a consistent Christian life through all her days. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Stanton and were conducted by her pastor Rev. F. M. Druliner assisted by Rev. J. J. Klopp, a friend of the family. A quartette furnished appropriate music for the occasion. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery near Stanton. She leaves to mourn her departure many relatives and friends. The sympathy of the entire community is especially with Mr. Barr, who has lost so noble a life-companion and the afflicted children who have lost so good and faithful a mother.
