McGreevy, 36, formerly of Hancock, resulted in the capture of three youths suspected of shooting to death her husband, Frank J. McGreevy, aged 36, also well known in this county. McGreevy was shot down by one of three youths, who held him up in the barbecue stand which he operated near Irwin, Pa., early yesterday morning. the trio was captured last night at Aliquippa, Pa., and are being held in the Greensburg, Pa., jail. They gave their names as Charles R. Kay, 27, David Krejac, 26, and George Chiteman, 26, all of McKeesport. They denied holding up McGreevy. The three bandits, each about 20 years of age, entered the barbecue stand shortly after 1 o'clock yesterday morning. Patrons were seated at the tables in the room adjoining and the trio delayed giving their orders for food until the others departed. McGreevy became suspicious and went outside to obtain the license number of their automobile. He gave the number to his wife and told her to remember it, as she might have cause to use it. His wife and their children retired. John A. Kepler, whose wife is employed at the stand, said he was standing in the doorway between the kitchen and lunch room when McGreevy was shot down. Held Up Hands Keplar said McGreevy was standing behind the counter when the men ordered the barbecue owner to "stick them up." Kepler said McGreevy, holding his hands above his head, told the bandits who covered him: "Don't shoot." My money is in my hip pocket. Take it." The bandit reached into the right hip pocket, encountered a pistol which McGreevy carried there, and then shot him in the back. The bullet from a .32 caliber automatic passed through McGreevy's heart and was found later in his shirt. McGreevy was instantly killed. Got Only Six Dollars The bandits took $6 from the cash register and fled in the stolen car. Mrs. Kepler (sic-should be McGreevy) recalled the number of the license tag and the description of the machine given by her husband and notified the police at once, and the search was on. The machine, stolen at Pittsburgh, was stopped at Aliquippa and the trio taken into custody." The News, Cumberland, Maryland 1 Aug 1970: "Mrs. Francis McGreevy-Mrs. Anna Ellen McGreevy, 85, formerly of Ridgeley, died here yesterday. Born in Hancock, she was a daughter of the late William and Anna (Kesecker) Elkins and was the widow of Francis J. McGreevy. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are two sons, Donald J. McGreevy, Baltimore and Francis McGreevy, McKeesport, Pa.; two brothers, Jeff (sic should be Jesse) R. Elkins, Ridgeley, and Augustus Elkins, Wilmington, Del.; and a sister, Mrs. Laura Hughes, Fort Ashby and eight grandchildren. The body will be at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow."
