In 1879 when she was 14 years old she came with her parents to America. On November 6, 1883, she married Wm. F.C. Hanfeld at Clarence, Iowa. The Correctionville News, 15 April 1943, page 1: Anna Emelia Hanfeld nee Albers was born October 23, 1865, at Otterndorf, Germany, where she was baptized and confirmed. In 1879 when she was 14 years old she came with her parents to America. On November 6, 1883, she married Wm. F.C. Hanfeld at Clarence, Iowa. She and her husband lived on a farm near there the following four years. From 1887 to 1894 they lived on a farm near North Platte, Nebraska, and then moved back to Iowa and settled on a farm near Midway. In 1914 they retired from farming and moved to Correctionville. Her husband passed away April 2, 1938, and since then she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Bergendahl, Storm Lake. Deceased had usually been in good health until the last year. On February 23 of this year she was taken to the hospital in Cherokee. After undergoing a serious operation she was taken back to Storm Lake March 26. There at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bergendahl, she passed away April 7, 1943, aged 77 years, 5 months and 15 days. Survivors include daughters Mrs. Louis Schmidt of Correctionville, Mrs. William Herbold of Pierson, Mrs. Paul Bergendahl of Storm Lake, Mrs. Otto Koetke of Kingsley, Mrs. William Schellaborger of Moffatt, Colorado, Mrs. Henry S. Sherman of Denver, Colorado, Misses Lillie and Eldora Hanfeld of Denver, a brother, Henry R. Albers of Midway, seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and a host of friends. Two daughters, Emilie and Clara, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Wilson-Hull Funeral home in Correctionville with Rev. S.J. Meyer officiating. Burial was at Midway.
