They were early settlers and by thrift and economy have acquired and prepared one of the most beautiful farm homes in the county. Ref: Minden Courier, Minden, NE, 12 May 1910, pg. 1:2 - Death of Mrs. G. A. Strand - Anna Fredrika Jongason was born October 24th, 1850, in Sweden. She came to America in 1870 and located at Burlington, Iowa. In 1871 she married Eric Hedstrom. He died on December 26, 1873. They had one child, now Mrs. J. W. Carlson of New Castle, WY. In 1876, she was married to G. A. Strand and came to Kearney county, March 8th, 1884 and settled on their farm one mile north and two west of Minden where they have since resided. She joined the Swedish Lutheran church in 1872 and has been a consistent member since. She had been in poor health for about four years and died May 3rd, and was buried in the Swedish Lutheran cemetery, May 6th. She was the mother of seven children and three stepchildren. Six are still living in Kearney County. She has a brother in Sweden and a brother and sister living in Burlington, Iowa.
