Description	:	Many friends were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Anna Gertrude Miller which occurred at the home of her son, Herman R. Miller, northeast of Schleswig, Thursday evening, May 26th, after only a few hours of illness. Anna Gertrude Miller nee Hofeditz was born at Sielen, Hessen-Kassel, Germany, January 9, 1844, and reached the age of 77 years four months and 14 days. She came to America at the age of 18 years to Davenport, Iowa, was married there to Henry Miller (*note: there are no records or family knowledge of a Mr. Miller ... ever) who preceded... Read More	Many friends were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Anna Gertrude Miller which occurred at the home of her son, Herman R. Miller, northeast of Schleswig, Thursday evening, May 26th, after only a few hours of illness. Anna Gertrude Miller nee Hofeditz was born at Sielen, Hessen-Kassel, Germany, January 9, 1844, and reached the age of 77 years four months and 14 days. She came to America at the age of 18 years to Davenport, Iowa, was married there to Henry Miller (*note: there are no records or family knowledge of a Mr. Miller ... ever) who preceded her in death many years ago. In 1872 they came to Crawford county and settled on a farm in Otter Creek township. Mrs. Miller was known as a good wife and mother. She was the mother of seven children, three sons passed away before the mother. Those who are left to mourn her death are Friedrich Miller of Holstein, Iowa, Herman Miller of Schleswig, Louise, now Mrs. Sievert Henricksen of Oklahoma, and Marie, now Mrs. Rud Volkman of Battle Creek, and 29 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters in Germany. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Friedens church, Rev. Wetzeler conducting the services and the remains laid to rest in Morgan township cemetery.
