Anna May Martin was born at Troy Mills, Iowa on April 3, 1873 and died Jan. 16, 1932 at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 13 days. She was baptized at the age of 13 years into the First Christian church at Troy Mills. She was united in marriage to Frank Hart on Dec. 3, 1889 at Troy Mills, Ia. They came to Nebraska in 1898 and lived in the vicinity of Winnetoon until death claimed the husband on October 12, 1905. To this union eight children were born, two preceding the mother in death, Ella M., dying Feb. 10, 1914 and Melvin T., August 23, 1916. Those surviving are: Harold W. Hart, Junction City, Kansas, Mrs. Jennie Sonder, Verdigre, George I. Hart, Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Vera Horn, Independence, Iowa. Mrs. Alma Brobet, Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Mary Reeves, Omaha. After the death of her husband, she returned to Iowa, later returning to Creighton, where she lived with her children several years. She went from here to Hartington, where she was united in marriage to Jay A. Bliven on November 4, 1915. Together with her husband they have been residents of Sioux City, Iowa for the past ten years. Besides the husband and children the deceased leaves to mourn four stepchildren; Mrs. Hazel Miller, Hartington, Mrs. Charlotte Washburn, Sioux City, Iowa; Asa Bliven, Los Angeles, Calif. and Earl Bliven at home; two sisters, Mrs. Rena Bice, Correctionville, Iowa, Miss Jennie Martin, Hampton, Iowa, one brother, Charles Martin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, one half brother, Wm. Betzer, Anamosa, Iowa and 12 grandchildren, besides other relatives. All were present at the funeral except the half brother, Wm. Betzer, Mrs. Hazel Miller and Asa Bliven. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wilson, M.E. pastor, at the Hengstler funeral parlor in Creighton on January 19.
