Little Annie Jane Duncan was born in 1849 in Northern Ireland. She came to America with her family- parents George and Rebecca (Monteith) Duncan, and older sisters Mary Ann (m Stephen Mount), Elizabeth (m Martin Van Gabriel), and Matilda (m Charles P. Rose). They came through Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada where her brother James A. (m Dorothy Jane Rose) was born in 1852. They settled in Athens County, Ohio. Her parents had 2 more children in Ohio- John Scott "Scott" (m Melissa Belle Wolf), and Laura May (m William Loren Bendure). 1851 CENSUS for Etobicoke township in York county (dissolved county), province of Ontario, Canada West, Canada. Listed- George Duncan with wife Rebecca, and 4 daughters- all born in Ireland. Son James would be born next in Etobicoke, CANADA. The family then moved to Ohio. One death certificate says that Anna's parents were born in "Northern" Ireland. It is said on several documents that George immigrated to Canada in 1846, and then to Ohio in 1847. This does "not make sense" if the the first 4 children were born in Ireland before 1950. 1860 CENSUS* Anna was 10 years old living in Athens Co Ohio with her parents George and Rebecca Duncan, and siblings. Charles was the 3rd child of Thomas and Polly (Fulton) Francis. Anna and Charles Francis had their only child George Thomas Francis in 1873. Charles Francis "disappeared" and Anna was later declared divorced. Nov 8, 1885 Anna married second husband Charles C. Carsey. Anna and Charles Carsey had their son Charles Raymond Carsey Jr. on July 16, 1886. 1900 CENSUS Anna's father- widower George Duncan (born Oct 1817) living with his son John Scott, and states that he immigrated to America in 1846. Perhaps his wife and children came over on a later voyage landing in Canada for some time. Son James was born in Etobicoke, Canada in 1952. Perhaps Mr. Duncan made several trips. The next children- John Scott and Laura were born in Ohio. The 1900 census states born in IRELAND next to John Scott's name. Mr. Carsey died before the 1920 census. Anna went to live with her son George T. Francis and his wife Biddie (Parcell) in The Plains just north of Athens. 1920 CENSUS, Anna a widow, was living with both sons- George Francis, and Raymond Carsey in West Luhrig, Athens, Ohio, United States. 1930 CENSUS- "Anni" 79, was living with her son Raymond Carsey in Waterloo township, Athens County, Ohio. Her family referred to her as Ma Carsey. According to the JAN 8, 191 Athens Messenger- She died JAN 8, 1931, aged 81, in Luhrig. *
