Ronnie, was raised as a foster child in the home of Ole O Ingebretson, Sr. His sister, Anna Ronnie was raised as a foster child in the home of Iver Alness and their sister Bertha (Brita) Ronnie, was raised as a foster child in the home of Jensine Petrine "Annie" Haugen Grane. She was born on September 17, 1853 and was baptized and confirmed in this place in Norway. In 1872, together with her parents and brothers and sisters she emigrated to America, coming to Filmore County, Minnesota, where she resided with her parents for a year when the family moved to Lincoln County then the Territory of Dakota. Here she stayed with her parents until her mother's death. Then she went out to work for others. On the 3rd day of January, 1876 she was united in marriage to Ole Ingebretson and took up her home on Mr. Ingebretson's homestead in Norway Township where she resided with her husband until 1920 when they moved to Canton, South Dakota, where she has resided continually until her death. To this union with Mr. Ingebretson, eleven children were born of which four have passed away while seven are left to mourn her departure. They are Edward, John, Ole, Paul, Anna Sullestad, Tina Boe and Bertha Hegge. She also leaves one foster son, Nils Ronnie (Bertha's Ronnie's brother,) and twenty-four grandchildren and two great grandchildren also one sister, Mrs. Olina Nelson, of Canton. Her husband passed away on December 27, 1914. In 1911, accompanying her brother, Mons Johnson, of Hudson she took a trip to Norway where she visited in the home of her sister, Marie, and other relatives, leaving in the spring of the year and returning in harvest time of the same year. On her return she found one of her sons very ill and he passed away the same winter. A daughter also died about four months later. Her husband also passed away shortly. All this sickness and death in the family wore her down and finally she broke down altogether and in latter years she has occupied a wheelchair. However, the same kindly manner was evident always when her neighbors and friends came to see her. At the time of her death, January 18, 1929, she was 75 years, 4 months and one day. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, The boon his love has given, And though the body slumbers here The soul is safe in heaven.
