Obituary Anna Katharina Wilhelmine Ricklefs was born, January 3, 1865, at Wuppels, Jeverland, Germany, and died at McDonald hospital at Monticello, Iowa, on Sunday morning, May 16, 1943, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 13 days. The daughter of Johann Husmann and Johanna Katharina Husmann, nee Jansen, she was baptized at Wueppeis and confirmed at Lehrhafe, Osfriesland. She was married to Friedrich Theodore Bennen and to this union two sons were born, Weert Bennen and John Bennen. After the death of her husband she emigrated with her sons to North America and arrived at Monticello with her parents on April 11, 1889. Anna was given in holy marriage to Herman Dietrich Ricklefs of Scotch Grove on March 3, 1892, at Zion church at Wayne by Pastor Christoph Mardorf. Seven children, two of whom preceded her in death, were born to this union. The couple were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 3, 1942. Mrs. Ricklefs health was much impaired for the last few years and she took seriously sick on Thursday, May 13 and was taken to the hospital. On Sunday morning at 1 o'clock she fell peacefully asleep. She was a member of Zion church from the time she came to America until her passing away. A faithful wife, good mother, and a kind friend to all who knew her. She leaves to mourn besides her husband, her children, Henry J. Ricklefs of Scotch Grove, Mrs. Lawrence Schoon, Wilhelm F. Ricklefs of Anamosa, Herman Ricklefs of Saginaw, Mich., Mrs. Adolph Schoon of Amber, Weert Bennen and John Bennen of Wyoming; also 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren survive. One brother, Fred Husmann and one sister, Mrs. Herman Bartels preceded her in death.
