Following the birth of their first son, Dominik Josef, they emigrated to the United States, leaving Dominik with family in Switzerland. While living in Tuolomne County, Anna bore 4 more sons before the family's relocation to Meridian in Yuba County. The family owned the only 2-story home in Meridian and once the boys had left, they rented out many of the rooms to boarders. Anna died of a heart attack in her doctors office.
