The facts given below are through the courtesy of Buehler Funeral Home, who were in charge of the entire rite. Mrs. Schulz was 92 years of age and died at St. Luke's Nursing Home in Dickinson. Rev. G. F. Steffen, pastor of the church officiated at the afternoon service and burial was in the church cemetery. Death was due to complication of old age. The following grandsons were pallbearers- Robert Heid, Leroy Hagerott, Lyle Schulz, Kenneth Schulz, Arnold Golde, Leo Frederick. Mrs. Schulz was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zick and was born in Waukesha, Wisc. Nov. 16, 1865. She came to New Salem in pioneer days (1884) and was the wife of Karl Ferdinand Schulz, whom she married at Waukesha Sept 22, 1883. The following children survive: Mrs. Alex Nelson (Helen) of Mandan -- George of New Salem, Mrs. Josephine Golde and Mrs. Wm. Rabe (Louise) New Salem, Carl of New Salem, Edgar of Livingston, Mont., Mrs. Fred Hagerott (Laura) Center. There are 49 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren. The parents, 2 sons 3 daughters, 6 brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death. While her age and health permitted, Mrs. Schulz was devoted to her family and her church. It was only when ill health came that she was forced to remain away from her church and family. Previous to the funeral, the body remained at the Buehler funeral Home, here until time for the service. The Obituary Read By Rev. Steffen We are gathered together this afternoon in memory of Mrs. Anna Schulz who was born in Waukesha, Wisc. on the 16th day of November 1865. She was one of 11 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zick. She was married to Karl Ferdinand Schulz at Waukesha on the 23rd of Sept. in 1882. They came to the New Salem community to settle in 1884, a year after the town of New Salem was founded.Twelve children were born to the couple. In 1925, they left the farm and moved into New Sale, where she had made her home until entering the hospital last spring. Mrs. Schulz was the mother of the late Mrs. Fred Frederick of Mandan; the late Mrs. Roger Manley of New Salem; Mrs. Alex Nelson of Oliver Co.; Mrs. Josephine Golde of New Salem; Mrs Fred Hagerott, of Center; Mrs. Wm. Rabe of New Salem, Carl and George Schulz of New Salem and Edgar of Livingston, Mont. She leaves 49 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Mr. Schulz, (who died in 1941) two sons, three daughters, six brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.
