Description	:	Mrs. Gerrit Popma died Thursday Jan 29 at the state hospital at Cherokee after a lingering illness of five years, at the age of 8years, 6 months and 22 days. Mrs. Popma, nee Annie Kooreman, was born at Albany, N.Y. July 7, 1863. When very young she came to Brandon, Wisc. with her parents John and Johanna Kleinhesselink Kooreman. When she was nine years of age, the family moved to Alton, Ia., where she grew to womanhood. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Arie Bomgaars who passed away on July 14, 1885. To them one daughter, Ida was born.... Mrs. Popma, nee Annie Kooreman, was born at Albany, N.Y. July 7, 1863. When very young she came to Brandon, Wisc. with her parents John and Johanna Kleinhesselink Kooreman. When she was nine years of age, the family moved to Alton, Ia., where she grew to womanhood. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Arie Bomgaars who passed away on July 14, 1885. To them one daughter, Ida was born. On May 28, 1903 she was united in marriage to Gerrit Popma of Orange City and lived in this vicinity for thirty-eight years. Surviving are Mrs. Ida Jarman of Lake Crystal, Minn., Albert Popma of Cherokee, Mrs. Gerrit Top of Newkirk; Chris Popma of Dixon, Ill., Florence Foxen of Sioux City. One sister, Jennie Kooreman; two brothers, Edward and Wm. of Alton, several grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Van Etten Funeral Home and at the First Ref. church on Monday afternoon. Rev. H Colenbrander officiated. Interment was made in the Orange City cemetery [sic]. Among the relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Jarman of Lake Crystal, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Popma and children Don and June of Cherokee; Chris Popma of Dixon, III.; Mrs. John Foxen of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Will Popma of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mr .and Mrs. Walter Popma of Cherokee.
