Organist will be Alice Simon and St. Anthony's Catholic Church Choir will sing. Soloist will be Vonnie Reuer. Eucharistic Minister will be Elaine Seurer and lector will be Don Meyer. Mrs. Spindler's family prefers memorials to the St. Anthony Church organ restoration fund, Box 98, Hoven, SD 57450. Anna Mellenbach, daughter of Mary (Kaiser) and Pete Mellenbach, was born Jan. 28, 1913, at Hoven. She began her education at St. Anthony's School in Hoven. She then attended Mt. Marty Academy in Yankton, graduating with the Class of 1931. She married Elmer H. Spindler on Nov. 22, 1931, at Hoven. They bought her parents' farmstead north of Hoven and resided there until 1963 when they retired and moved into Hoven. Elmer died Aug. 11, 1996. Anna continued living in Hoven until 2002 when she moved to Aberdeen. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Altar Society, Hoven Senior Center, Hoven Country Club, and the Holy Infant Hospital Auxiliary. She was known for her baking skills and cake decorating. She loved music and played violin while attending Mt. Marty Academy. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, crocheting, playing cards and doing puzzles. Mrs. Spindler is survived by three sons, Larry (Joanne) Spindler of LaCrosse, Wis., Arlyn (Rose) Spindler of Hoven and Kenton (Val) Spindler of Geneseo, Ill.; three daughters, Joyce (Buster) McQuown of Seneca, Janet Brickell of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alayne (Don) Meyer of Aberdeen; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father on April 28, 1926, her mother on Oct. 2, 1942, her husband, one infant daughter (Julie Ann), one grandson, one great-granddaughter, two brothers and seven sisters. Casketbearers will be Brian Spindler of LaCrosse, Wis., Paul Meyer of Marshall, Minn., Dale McQuown of Seneca, Kurt Kaiser of Hoven, Steve Hageman of Watertown, and Jason Spindler of Geneseo, Ill.
