Wednesday, January 22, 1913, The State, Columbia, SC ________________________ MISS VALLIE BETHEA BURIED Dillon, Jan 23 [1913] -- The body of Miss Vallie Bethea was brought from Mullins to Dillon yesterday. The funeral was held at the residence of her brother, W T Bethea, this afternoon at 4 o'clock and the burial was at Mt Holly cemetery. Miss Bethea had been teaching in the Mullins graded school and up to about a week ago was enjoying splendid health. The news of her death was a great shock to a host of friends in this and Marion county. She was a graduate of Wintrhop college and was very popular with her fellow students and the faculty while there. A large number of her friends among them the school faculty, came over to be present at the funeral and burial. The funeral was conducted by the Rev O Shuler Kirkland and the Rev R E Stackhouse. She is survived by three brothers, W T Bethea of Dillon, Lee Bethea of Charleston, and Pierce Bethea of Dillon and two sisters, Miss Lillian Bethea of Latta and Miss Alma Bethea of Dillon.
