Description	:	Anna Lee Scott, 74, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral mass for Miss Scott will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 15 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 607 S. Jackson St., Mt. Pleasant. Pleasant. Visitation will continue from 5-7 PM at St. Alphonsus Church. There will be a Scriptural Wake Service at 7 PM Sunday evening. Anna Lee was born December 5, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Leo Francis and Mary Alice (Burns) Scott. She attended elementary and middle school at St. Alphonsus. She then completed her high school education at Ottumwa Heights Academy in Ottumwa, graduating in 1957. Miss Scott worked at the former JC Penney store in Mt. Pleasant and later became a teller for the former Henry County Savings Bank. For 29 years, she was the computer specialist for Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids. Anna Lee ended her career being the Assistant Vice President and Director of Account Management for Banks of Iowa Computer Services. She retired in 1999 and moved back to Mt. Pleasant in 2000. Anna Lee was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the church’s Altar & Rosary Society. She served a number of years as the Choir Director for St. Alphonsus. Anna Lee had also served on one of the first committees in the building of the Gathering Space and new church for St. Alphonsus. She was a former member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, where she was also active in the choir and music department. Anna Lee was a member and participant in the Community Theater Associations of both Mt. Pleasant and Cedar Rapids. She also participated in the Cedar Rapids Follies in a variety of capacities. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines. Anna Lee sang Barbershop with Sherry Mertens, Jean Shook and Margaret Layer DeJaynes in a group called “The Galatones”. The group won the 1969 International Queens of Harmony Championship. After that, they toured around the country and overseas on a USO tour for the soldiers. Those thankful for sharing in Anna Lee’s life include a sister and her husband, Jean and Max Beavers of Mt. Pleasant; seventeen nieces and nephews – Leo Hunting, Linda Hunting Swanson, Jim Keefe, Dennis Keefe, Elaine Keefe Brown, Teresa Keefe O’Meara, Jane Fern Barron, Sam Fern, Alicia Scott Meller, Helen Scott Johnson, Paul Scott, Lee Scott, Pat Scott, Carol Scott Heitz, Janice Scott Winnike, Judy Scott Sammons and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Her parents, two brothers – Francis and Mark Scott, two sisters – Winifred Hunting and Ruth Fern and twin sisters in infancy precede Anna Lee in death.
