Description	:	Anna L. Mader, 88, formerly of Eagle Butte, died Friday, Oct. 21, 1988, at Clearwater, Fla. Her funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 25 in United Church of Christ, Eagle Butte, with Rev. Ray Berry officiating. Burial was in United Eagle Butte Cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge in charge of the arrangements. Anna Leta Van Brocklin and her twin brother David were born on Sept. 11, 1900, at Massena, Iowa to Walter W. and Electa (Yarger) Van Brocklin. When she was 10, her family came to South Dakota where they lived with their grandfather at Canning. They then moved to rural Eagle Butte in December 1910. She attended school at the rural Van Brocklin School. She was employed as a scribe at the Dewey County Register of Deeds Office in Timber Lake for several years. One Dec. 31, 1922, she married Clarence G. Mader of Firesteel. They lived on a farm near Firesteel for six years. In 1928, they moved to a ranch five miles north of Parade where they continued living until he died in December 1971. She then spent time living with her daughters in Eagle Butte, Florida, and Georgia. In June 1987, she moved into the Sunset Point Nursing Home at Clearwater. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years, the Green Grass Extension Club for more than 50 years and the Congregational Church in Eagle Butte. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Irene) Stewart, Augusta, Ga., Mrs Steve (Ione) Bellissimo, Safety Harbor, Fla., and Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Hinzman of Eagle Butte; one son, Charles Mader, Eagle Butte; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her twin brother, two sisters and an infant daughter.
