Rolls, who was driving an automobile which struck Mrs. Gardner as she stepped from the curb on Central avenue, between Chestnut and Walnut streets, will be arraigned in municipal court Tuesday morning. He has been released under $1,000 bond. The manslaughter charge was filed against Rolls Sunday by Patrolman Herschell Haines at the recommendation of Coroner Edward Cook, whose investigation showed Mrs. Gardner's death was due to injuries received when struck by the auto. Rolls denied responsibility in the accident. He was driving north on Central avenue when Mrs. Gardner walked in front of his car, he said; before he had time to apply the brakes. Mrs. Gardner was resident of Hamilton for 35 years, having established a residence in this city when she was 31 years old. She was born in Liberty, Ind. She was the widow of Joseph Gardner who died 26 years ago. Besides a sister, Mrs. Clarence Bobenmeyer [Eleanor], Mrs. Gardner leaves many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Albert P. Wagner funeral home, 337 Ludlow street. Interment will be in St. Stephen's cemetery.
