ANNIE EITING She Died Saturday, Jan. 30 After Illness of Sixteen Days. After a severe illness lasting sixteen days, Mrs. Annie M. Eiting departed this life on last Saturday evening, Jan. 30, about 7 o'clock. Her death was from meningitis of the brain. She died at her home in North David City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 9:30 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic church in David City and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Father Boll. St. Mary's choir furnished the music. The pall bearers were John Fox, Herman Ficke, John Lanspa, Peter Meysenburg, Mike Medinger and Peter Vanderheiden. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery in Center township by the side of the grave of her husband. Among the many beautiful floral offerings at the funeral was a set piece from the Knights of Columbus council of David City. Mrs. Eiting was the widow of Henry Eiting, who died in Center township in April, 1904. While in New Mexico for Mrs. Eiting's health Mr. Eiting contracted typhoid fever from which his death resulted. A daughter of Bernard and Anna Brochtrup, Mrs. Eiting was born February 28, 1869, in Woodville, Calumet county, Wis. When a young lady she came to Butler county to visit her brothers and while visiting here met Mr. Eiting. They were married a year later, in September, 1893. Mr. and Mrs. Eiting resided in Center township after their marriage. In the fall after Mr. Eiting's death Mrs. Eiting purchased residence property in David City and moved there. Mrs. Eiting is survived by nine brothers, Joseph Brochtrup of David City, Henry, of West Holland, Wis., Bernard of Columbus, Ohio, John of Stanley, Wis., William of Forest Junction, Wis., Frank of Greeley, Colo., and Charles and Theodore, living in Butler county, Charles in Center township and Theodore in Olive township. Three of the brothers, John, Bernard and William, were unable to be here for the funeral services. Frank Brochtrup came January 23, a week before his sister's death. Henry and Herman arrived last Sunday evening. About five years ago Mrs. Eiting took a little orphan babe to raise and although she had never legally adopted the child she lavished every affection and attention of her. The little girl's name is Mary Alice Eiting. Mrs. Eiting was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in David City. Ever true to her faith, she led a conscientious and faithful Christian life. She was a woman with very likable manner and had acquired many warm friends both in Center township and in David City. _____ CARD OF THANKS - We extend our sincere thanks to the friends who were so kind to our sister, Mrs. Anna Eiting, during her last illness, and at time of her death and at time of the funeral and also for the floral tributes sent.
