Clare where they will reside. ===================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, December 26, 1918; pg. 3 Last week we recorded the first double tragedy in death's harvest from influenza in one home by the taking of both father and mother, and this week it becomes our sad duty to chronicle a second misfortune of the same grave character. Joseph Venhaus, aged 34, died December 12, and his wife died three days later, December 15, at 10:45 p.m. age 27. The illness of both ran over a period of some twelve days. The husband was buried Saturday and the wife Tuesday under quarantine restrictions from Sacred Heart church (sic). Burial at St. Stephens. Three children survive the parents: Gilbert aged 7, Vincent aged 4, and the youngest, a girl of about 2 years. The deceased husbond (sic) was the third eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Venhaus and his wife the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kohmetscher.
