Pallbearers were Henry J. Harms, Dick Harms, Herman Harms, George Wilken, William Johnson, and John Reese. Mrs. Clifford Peters, nee Oltmans, was born Oct. 28, 1914, at Craig (Preston Twp.) Iowa, as the only daughter to the happy union of Carl and Tina Oltmans. Her Christian parents brought her into convenant relation with the heavenly Father by presenting her in the Sacrament of holy Baptism on Nov. 15, 1914, through the ministry of Rev. John Vollmar, Sr. Her early childhood days were spent on a farm west of Craig. Later the family moved to a farm north of Brunsville. Here she received her early training in the secular branches as taught in the public school. He early Christian impressions she received in the parental home and the training program of St. Peter’s Lutheran church of Brunsville, which congregation the family joined as members. Special training for active church membership she received with the class of 1928, under direction of supply pastor, Rev. A.F. Zenk, Merrill. She knelt at the altar to make her pledge of faithful service to the Lord on confirmation day, May 25, 1928, and since has been an active member with St. Peter’s congregation. The happiness of her formative years was somewhat marred by the early passing of her mother Feb. 14, 1930. But she bore up well under the strain and with all sincerity and devotion applied herself as a help to her father, to whom she was attached with singleness of purpose in devoting her very efforts to make life as pleasant as possible for him. In this she never ceased until the day of her departure. Truly, a lovable daughter. Since 1930 the family has resided in Brunsvill. Here, too, it was that she spent the all too few years of happy wedded life as the devoted wife of Clifford Peters. The happy event making them husband and wife was on Dec. 1, 1943. They remained as residents at the Oltmans home and were engaged in farming. Here, too, they expected to dwell together for many years in the joyful anticipation of a family of their own. God, however, ruled differently, so that her first travail brought the final summons. She was rushed to the Lutheran hospital at Sioux Cit where everything that medical science could offer was set into motion, yet to no avail. Her little infant was laid to rest in Lutheran cemetery, Craig, on June19. After a valiant struggle for life she, too, made her departure on June 21. Her age at passing was 32 years, 5 months and 23 days. Truly a fine lady hath reached her destination. May God have her soul in peace. She leaves to mourn her early going; her devoted husband, Clifford Peters; her aging and ailing father, Carl Oltmans; six brothers, Otto, Charles and Fred, Le Mars, Henry of Ireton, Herman, Sioux City, and Elmer, Brunsville; two nephews, four nieces, three uncles, eight aunts, and a large number of other more distant relatives and a host of friends.
