On April 28, 1947, she married Fred Abbas at his parents' home in rural Aplington. They farmed south of Austinville and Anna Mae worked at the cafe in Aplington, the canning factory in Ackley, and as a nurse's aide at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls and the Allison Care Center.
