Mrs. Petty has not been well for years and for the past few months has suffered terribly. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones as well as her many friends. Obituary: The Ransom Record, Friday, August 3, 1934 Annie Margaret Wagner was born near Percy, Iowa, January 8, 1870 and departed this life July 25, 1934 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 13 days. When nine years old she moved to Kansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Wagner, locating near what is now Brownell. She obtained her education at Vansburg School located west a short distance of where Brownell now stands. The nearest post office was then at Hays. She was married to William T. Petty of Ransom, April 4, 1890. They settled on a homestead near the Smoky Hill River north of Brownell. In a short time they moved and homesteaded the land where Osgood now stands, in which vicinity they made their home almost entirely, except when in Missouri, Colorado, or Arizona for a short time. She was united with the Church of Christ in the Cyrus Community about the year 1897, and has remained faithful to her church ever since. To this union were born five children, Floyd W., preceding her in death in 1927. Her husband also preceded her in death in 1932. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, Elizabeth M. Zordel, John L., Francis C., and Ivan T. Petty, all of Ransom; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four brothers, Charles Wagner of Kansas City, Missouri, William Wagner of Commerce, Iowa, Lewis Wagner of Dodge City, Kansas, and George Wagner of Ness City, Kansas; two sisters, Sadie Goodvin of Peace Valley, Missouri, and Elizabeth Likes of Hutchinson, Kansas, also a host of other relatives and friends. She was a kind and loving wife and a wonderful mother. Always willing to do her part, she was also courageous, hopeful and willing to carry her burden alone. "And I heard a voice from Heaven saying, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours: and their works do follow them." The funeral was held from the Methodist Church on Friday afternoon and was very ably conducted by Brother J.M. Briggs. A double quartet composed of Mrs. W.F. Baer, Dorothy and Willa, and Miss Peggy Conard and the Messrs. Charles and Ward Scott, Theron LaPlante, and Nay Combest sang beautifully the three following songs; "Gathering Home," "I Know that My Redeemer Liveth," and "Nearer to Thee." A beautiful floral display furnished the fitting background for the casket. The pallbearers were John Beamer, Ed Combest, Will Farr, Omer Douglass, John Eisenhour and Bert Barber. Funeral director John Aeby had charge of the body which was laid to rest in the Ransom Cemetery.
