Friends of Mrs. George Moenk will be pained to learn of her death which occurred Monday evening, September 28th. Some months ago she submitted to a surgical operation with the hope of permanent relief. Recently her condition grew worse, and after weeks of patient suffering she passed to the Great Beyond. Anna Margaret Balster was a daughter of Christopher and Gesina Heyen Balster. She was born in Scotch Grove township, October 14, 1897. Her marriage to George H. Moenk occurred December 18, 1917. The marriage ceremony was performed at St. John's Lutheran church by Rev, W. H. L. Schuetz. Two daughters were born to this union, Evelyn Georgia, 17, and Marcella Anna, 11. Baptized in 1897 The subject of this sketch was baptized November 14, 1897, by Rev. Fritz Von Strobe, who was at that time pastor of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church of Wayne township. Later she was confirmed in this faith by Rev. W. H. L. Schuetz, who was then the pastor of the church. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Moenk spent a number of years on a farm in Scotch Grove township. Fourteen years ago they removed to Castle Grove township, living on a farm north of the Lutheran church for nine years and since that time on a farm two and one-half miles east of the church. Surviving Family In addition to her husband and children Mrs. Moenk is survived by her mother, Mrs. J. C. Balster of Scotch Grove, two brothers. Arend of Scotch Grove and Robert of Monticello; three sisters; Mary who lives at home, Mrs. Edward Stadtmueller of Cass township, and Mrs. Ernest Heiken of Ryan. During her entire life Mrs. Moenk was a member of the Lutheran church. She held membership in St. John's church until ten years ago when she and her husband transferred their membership to St. Peter and Paul Lutheran church in Castle Grove township. Mrs. Moenk had a quiet and unassuming disposition and her kindness and industry won for her the love and esteem of all that knew her. The funeral services were held at the Moenk home this afternoon at one o'clock. Further services were held at St. Peter and St. Paul Lutheran church in Castle Grove township at 1:30 o'clock. Both services were in charge of Rev. Arnold Thalacker, pastor of that church. Mrs. Moenk's body was laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
