ANNA MARGARET ABLE Mrs. Anna Margaret Able, an old settler, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. I. Bader, in this city Monday morning after an illness of several months. Her death was mainly attributed to old age. She would have been 78 years old May 31. Mrs. Able was a sister of the late Frank May and was born at Steinsel, grand duch of Luxemburg. She came to America with yer brother in 1848 and to Cascade in 1849. In 1848 she was married to Nicholas Ernster with whom she lived ten years, when Mr. Ernster died. Two years later she married Joseph Able who died nineteen years ago. Mrs. Able had been a resident of this community almost continually for the past fifty years. She was a consistent Catholic, a member of St. Mary's parish, and highly respected by all who knew her. Her children, of her first husband, who survive her are Frank Ernster of Middlefield, Iowa; Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Harding, Nebraska; Mrs. J. P. Kirchen, wife of the Editor Kirchen of the Katholisher Wachter, of Cascade; John Ernster of Lakeville, Minnesota. Children of the late husband are Frank Able of Mr. Carmel, Iowa, and Mrs. Lizzie Bader of Cascade. The funeral was held Wednesday from St. Mary's Church, Rev. Father Albers officiating. Ed. Note: As per the marriage certificate of Nicholas John Ernster and Anna Margaret Maei, the date of marriage is January 8, 1849. Therefore, I believe this article stating she married Nicholas Ernster in 1848 is in error. Maei is commonly spelled May.
