Description	:	Anna Margaretha "Maggie" Mortensen, daughter of Asmus Frees and Christina Jensen, was born February 12, 1891 in Borgwedel, Germany. She was baptized in Germany and came to America at the age of 3 with her parents and two sisters. They arrived in New York on the Columbia on 13 July 1894. They then traveled to Avoca, Iowa where they had relatives and settled there. Maggie and her family later moved to a farm southeast of Irwin, Iowa. On March 3, 1909 she married Philip Mortensen at the home of her parents near Irwin. They farmed near Irwin until 1920 and then near Audubon until 1944 when they retired and moved to Audubon. "Maggie" and Phil had 3 sons: Elmer M. Mortensen (10 May 1910 - 26 May 1968) Earl O. Mortensen (3 May 1913 - 9 July 2005) LeRoy H. Mortensen (25 Dec 1919 - 11 Oct 2002)
