The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. John Houlihan, who passed away suddenly at her home at Bernard on Sunday night, are extremely sad. Mrs. Houlihan, who was twenty-one years of age at the time of her passing, died during an absence of her husband, who is out in Dakota homesteading a claim. The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. John Houlihan, who passed away suddenly at her home at Bernard on Sunday night, are extremely sad. Mrs. Houlihan, who was twenty-one years of age at the time of her passing, died during an absence of her husband, who is out in Dakota homesteading a claim. As yet, they have been unable to locate him. He formerly conducted a farm implement concern at Bernard, which burned down some time ago. He is well known in Dubuque. The deceased was a daughter of William Cannon, her maiden name being Miss Annie Cannon. She was married but a year ago, and besides her husband is survived by her mother, Mrs. Catherine Barrett; she also leaves many relatives in Dubuque and throughout the county. Mrs. Houlihan was a most worthy and estimable woman, and her passing the morning of life has been the occasion for deepest sorrow among all who knew her. -------------- Dubuque Telegraph Herald March 13, 1910, page 5, column 7 Husband is Located – John Houlihan, whose wife died recently at Bernard has reached Dubuque and has gone on to Bernard to attend the funeral.
