SCHOLLMEYER Mrs. Anna May Schollmeyer died at her home in the city last Sunday morning after an illness of about six months of ailments due to old age, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 17 days. The funeral was held from the Catholic church last Tuesday morning, interment in the Catholic cemetery. Deceased was born at Bickenrede, Germany, on December 24, 1837. In 1868 she as united in marriage to Joseph Schollmeyer, and about ten years later they came to this country and settled in Wisconsin, where they resided until they moved to this county in the spring of 1882. They took a farm near Scottville where the deceased lived for nearly thirty years. Her husband passed to the great beyond about fifteen years ago and five years later Mrs. Schollmeyer moved to this city, where she made her home up to the time of her death. Mrs. Schollmeyer was the mother of eleven children, six girls and five boys of whom but four survive; three girls and one boy. The children are: Joseph Schollmeyer, Scottville; Mrs. W. F. Richert, Seappoone, Oregon; Mrs. W. H. Wilson, Lynch; Miss Anna, O’Neill. Mrs. Schollmeyer as one of the hardy pioneers that came to this country when it was a raw prairie and when the traveler could go for miles and miles over its prairies without seeing a human habitation. Thirty-nine years ago last spring she and her husband came to this country to carve out a future for themselves and their children. They located in the Blackbird valley near Scottville, which was her home for nearly thirty years. She endured all the hardships and privations of the pioneer, without complaint. During the early days of this county’s history Mrs. Schollmeyer took a prominent part in the social life of the Scottville country and was loved and admired by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. The funeral was held Tuesday morning and was very largely attended, nearly all of her old neighbors from the Scottville country coming to pay their last respects to their neighbor and friend. ____________________ CARD OF THANKS We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to the many kind friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness during the sickness, death and burial of our beloved mother.
