Anna Marie Carr was born at Black Rock in the county of Cork, Ireland, in 1838. She attended school in the city of Dublin and thereafter was a student for two years in Hempstead Heath school in the city of London. She came to America with her parents, arriving in New York City on May 10, 1850. Soon thereafter the family settled on a farm in Cattaraugus County, New York. She was united in marriage with Alexander Henry on September 12, 1854, and came to Iowa with her family in 1867.One child, Anna Marie, died September 2nd, 1862, and her husband died on February 17, 1909.Mrs. Henry is survived by twelve children, forty-four grand-children, fourteen great grand-children, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie McTaggart, whose post office address is Strawberry Point. The following are the names and addresses of her children. Rose O'Brien, Strawberry Point, Peter Henry, Alma, Mich.; Margaret Dinan, Littleport, Iowa.Anna Marie Henry was a kind, intelligent woman, a devoted wife, and an exceedingly good mother. The commendable character of her large family of survivors exemplifies her life work better than words can describe. This would be a much better human habitation if it had more mothers like Mrs. Henry.She was a devout member of the Catholic church, and the funeral services were held in the Catholic church at Cox Creek last Thursday. Rev. Father Casey preached the funeral sermon. Her seven surviving sons acted as pall- bearers. The interment was made in the near by cemetery.Manchester Democrat - Manchester, Iowa May 12, 1920
