Marie Honold, 88, were held in the Starling Funeral Home Bayard at 1:30 p.m. October 31 and at 2 p.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. E.W.M. Brewer of Glidden, who has been serving the Coon Rapids Lutheran Church as vacancy pastor, officiated. Mrs. Gerald Hackmeister, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ernest Carstens, sang "The Lord's My Shepherd" at the funeral home. A mixed octet consisting of Mrs. Gerald Hachmeister, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Deeth, Mrs. Ernest Johnston, Mrs. Ernest Carstens, Ronald Edwards, Carl Schumacher and George Schumacher sang "Asleep In Jesus" and "Abide With Me" during the service at the church. The congregation sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. Paul Honold was organist. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Paul Honold, Elmer Honold, David Steinhardt, Fred Honold, Paul Honold, and Richard Pralle. Burial was in Willow Cemetery in Greene County, Iowa. Relatives and friends attended from Latimer, Hampton and Story City. Mrs. Honold, the fifth in the family of six children of Jacob Bickelhaupt and Barbara Frank, was born June 4, 1870 in Landanau, Hessen, Barustadt, Germany. She was baptized as an infant in the Heunkirehen Lutheran Church in Germany. In 1881 she emigrated with her parents to the United States and settled in Boone County. On Sept. 30, 1903, she married Jacob Honold in Boone County. The couple made their home on a farm six and one-half miles northeast of Coon Rapids where Mrs. Honold resided until her death. Mrs. Honold was confirmed in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids, August 4, 1905 by Rev. Otto Gurschke. Mrs Honold had been in failing health for some time. She passed away October 28 in the Carroll hospital. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, one sister and her husband who passed away in 1934.
