Anna Mary was born Sept. 4, 1913, to Andrew and Marian (Keller) Leboldus in Selz, N.D. As a young child she moved with her family to the Onaka, S.D., area following her father's death. She married Simon B. Ehnes at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Roscoe on Oct. 24, 1932. They made their home on several farms in the area before purchasing a farm southeast of Roscoe. They farmed and raised their children there until moving into Roscoe in 1960. They purchased a home there while Simon worked as a city maintenance man and police officer and Anna Mary worked as a cook in the school kitchen. She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and had served as a member of the Altar Society. Her family and friends remember her for the wonderful German meals that she prepared and for her green thumb with flowers. Thankful for having Anna Mary in their lives are daughters Marian (Sebastian) Scherr, Roscoe, Phyllis Guthmiller, Roscoe, and Paulette Kub, Spearfish; sons, LeRoy (Maryln) Ehnes, Roscoe and Henry Ehnes, Sioux Falls; brother, Mike Leboldus, Roscoe and sister Julia (Sebastian) Gisi, Sisseton; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Simon, in 1999, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, seven sisters, daughter-in-law Angie Ehnes and son-in-law Roger Guthmiller. Casket bearers are Jamie Ehnes, Neil Scherr, Steven Scherr, Michael Guthmiller, Justin Kub and Ron Stagner. Jackie Opp will serve as organist with the church choir and Sarah Scherr providing special music. Ushers are Roy Meier and Marvin Uhrich. Published in the Aberdeen News on 11/18/2005.
