Description	:	Anna Mary Niemann was born in Germany, February 23, 1843. She died April 1, 1935, at her home at Grafton, Neb. She left Germany in 1869 and came to St. Louis, Mo., where she was married the same year to John Bernard Schmitz. She, with her husband and three children, came to Nebraska in 1879, and had since made her home on her farm east of Grafton. Her husband died in 1905. She died April 1, 1935, at her home at Grafton, Neb. She left Germany in 1869 and came to St. Louis, Mo., where she was married the same year to John Bernard Schmitz. She, with her husband and three children, came to Nebraska in 1879, and had since made her home on her farm east of Grafton. Her husband died in 1905. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. and Mary A., of Beatrice; William H. of Clearwater, Bernard H. and John G. at home and Seven grandchildren. Two children died in infancy. She was a loving mother and patient sufferer for many years, showing her Christian faith. She was the oldest member of St. Helena's Church where funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, at 9 o'clock, Rev. Anthony J. Lutz officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Schmitz of Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs. William Schmitz and children of Clearwater, John B. Nehe of Omaha, Mrs. Alice Nehe of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. George Sullivan of Beatrice. The Nebraska Signal April 11, 1935 page 9
