JOE BAHLMAN Dies at Her Home in This City Thursday, July 2, After Long Illness Mrs. Joachim Bahlman, 68, died at her home in this city, Thursday, July 2, death being due to a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Anna Mina Bahlman was born in Vorwendorf, Mekelmburg, Schwerin, Germany August 3, 1862. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stange. Her childhood and maiden life was spent in Germany where she attended the public and religious schools of that country. On November 2, 1885 she was married to Joachim Bahlman at Triwalk, Germany. The young couple remained in Germany for two years following their marriage, coming to America in 1887. They settled on a farm in Leroy township, Bremer county. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bahlman. One son and five daughters. Three small daughters preceded the mother in death. Mr. and Mrs. Bahlman remained on their farm until 1915, when they moved to Tripoli to retire from active work. They purchased a home in the north part of town and have resided there until the time of her death. Mrs. Bahlman had enjoyed good health until about three years ago when she suffered a stroke in May, 1928. She recovered sufficiently from this illness to be able to be about the house for some time. In recent months, however, her condition gradually became weaker, by several slight strokes, and the last attack was too great for her frail body to withstand and she passed peacefully away July 2, at 3 a.m., at the age of 68 years, 11 months 20 days. Mrs. Bahlman, to all her acquaintances, was known as a kind, christian woman. Her life was one that had been well spent and was full of devotion to her family and God. She was baptized in the church at Braseeken, Germany, in 1862, and later confirmed in the same church in 1876. She was one of the founders of the Evangelical church in Leroy township, and since her residence in Tripoli, had been an active member of St. Peters Evangelical church. She will be sadly missed by her family, neighbors and friends. Surviving are the husband, one son, Carl of near Frederika; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Wolf, St. Ansgar and Mrs. Dorathea Raush, of near Sandusky, Ohio, 13 grandchildren and one sister living in German. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday, July 5, at 1:30 p.m., followed with services at the St. Peter's Evangelical church. Rev. K. K. Koehler officiating.
