Her father returned here last night and her mother remained with her. The Piedmont Herald, Thursday 14 August 1952: "Requiem Mass for Miss Ann Philomena Welsh, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Welsh, 220 Rock Street, Westernport, who died last Thursday at 11:30 a. m. at the University Hospital, Baltimore, was celebrated Monday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church by Rev. Charles H. Quinn, assistant pastor. Rev. Msgr. A. Scarpati, pastor, and Rev. George J. Pugh, assistant pastor, were in the sanctuary. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were James Leo Herbert, George Determan, James Devine, James F. Thompson, Bernard P. Welsh and John Graney. Honorary bearers were James E. Thompson, Thomas Faherty, Wayne Michaels, Jack and Donald Maybury, Robert Collins and Benjamin McCarthy. Miss Welsh had undergone an operation two months ago and was improving until she suffered a relapse and was taken on Monday to the hospital, where she passed away on Thursday. A 1950 graduate of St. Peter's High School, Westernport, she attended Frostburg State Teachers College for a year. She was a member of St. Peter's Church. Besides her parents, she leaves two sisters, Miss Eloise Welsh, at home; Mrs. Mary Rebecca (Franklin) Woy, Westernport and a brother, Harry Edward Welsh, at home. Out-of-town people attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Owen Harris, Charles Brown, Baltimore; Mrs. Gertrude Pennington, William Laffey, Keyser; Mrs. Ann Graney, Terra Alta; Misses Lydia and Frances Lane, Walter Veach, Cumberland."
