Description	:	LAWSONVILLE, NC ~ Mrs. Anna Ruth Rogers Rakestraw, 78, passed away early Thursday morning, March 12, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1936 in Stokes County to Edgar Drew "Ed" & Fannie Savannah Lankford Rogers. She was a member of Lawsonville Baptist Church, and was retired from Unifi with 30 years of service. Ruth loved being outside, working in her yard, gardening, mowing, and working in her flowers. She was very proud of looking after the family cemetery and took a lot of pride in maintaining it. A 3:00 p.m. graveside service will be held on Saturday, March... Read More	LAWSONVILLE, NC ~ Mrs. Anna Ruth Rogers Rakestraw, 78, passed away early Thursday morning, March 12, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1936 in Stokes County to Edgar Drew "Ed" & Fannie Savannah Lankford Rogers. She was a member of Lawsonville Baptist Church, and was retired from Unifi with 30 years of service. Ruth loved being outside, working in her yard, gardening, mowing, and working in her flowers. She was very proud of looking after the family cemetery and took a lot of pride in maintaining it. A 3:00 p.m. graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Rogers Family Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Carter officiating. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers & six sisters, and her best friend, Ramona Gilley. She is survived by three daughters: Penny Smith & husband Billy of Westfield, Gail & Ricky Stevens of Lawsonville, and Gwynn Griffin & husband Derek of Dryfork, Va.; one grandson, Brandon Griffin & wife Charlene; two great-grandchildren: Tristan & Aubrey; and one sister, Mozelle Taylor of Stuart, Va. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter Gail. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Forsyth Medical Center and Rose Tara Plantation of King for all their compassionate care.
