Anna Sophia Suchsdorf was born February 14, 1842, in Albertsdorf, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Hans and Anna (Koch) Suchsdorf. She married Heinrich Schmidt on October 10, 1863, in Landkirchen, Fehmarn. Together they immigrated to the United States and settled on a farm in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Some of Anna's siblings had also immigrated to the United States. Heinrich used the name Henry during his lifetime. The surname Sucksdorf, became Sucksdorf and Suckstorf in the United States. Surviving are her husband, Henry; three brothers, Hans Suchsdorf and Hermann (Emma) Suchsdorf, both in Germany and Christian (Gertrude) Suckstorf of Pierce; and two sisters, Agnes Petersen of Fulda, MN, and Emma Schmielau of Treynor. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Hinrich and Ferdinand Suchsdorf, three sisters, Catharina, Anna and Catharina Suchsdorf; one sister-in-law, Emma Suchsdorf and two brothers-in-law, Peter Petersen and Jurgen Schmielau. (No obituary was obtained) Note: Anna Schmidt and her husband, Henry, were living in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. A visit was made to the Pottawattamie County Court House to view the death records. No place of burial could be found. It is not known if they had any children. It's possible they were buried in Layton Township Cemetery, but there is no gravestone for neither. This was reported on April 5, 2016: The cemetery burial records for Layton Township Cemetery were made and there is no Heinrich "Henry" or Anna Schmidt listed.
