Description	:	Born in Alexandria, DC. Her mother, Mary Pleasants, died when Anna was 7, leaving her father with five children. Two years later, her father remarried. In 1850 Anna owned or rented a house that was set up as a boarding school; Isaac Bond and William Henry Briggs lived there as the teachers; there appear to be 22 boarding students. Something went wrong between than and the 1860 census; on it Anna is an "inmate" at the Pennsylvania Hospital for the Insane in Philadelphia. She still there on the 1870 census.
