Anna's parents, Nicholas and Elbertje Van Domselaar Ten Bosch, took their six children and left the Netherlands for America in 1864 when Anna was about 7 years old. Three brothers - Peter (5 yo), Jacob (3 yo) and Willem (1 yo) died on the journey. This was a real blow to the family as they were the only boys.
