Her death was due to failing powers brought on by age and complications. She had failed rapidly the past year. Her maiden name was Anna Zenger and she was born in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany, July 29 1846. When a young woman she came to the United States with other members of her family. They settled near St. Lucas, Fayette county, Iowa, where she was married to John B. Grossman. Rev. Father Boed-ing officiating at the wedding. Following their marriage they lived there for a few years and thenmoved to Willey where they farm-ed for many years and then took up their residence in Carroll. While they were living in Carroll Mr. Grossmann died May 5, 1905. Subsequent to his death Mr. Grossmann came to Le Mars to make her home with relatives in this county. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. John Mack and Mrs. John Rolfes of Le Mars, a stepson, George Grossmann of McIntire, Iowa, eleven grand children and seventeen great grandchildren. Mrs. Grossmann was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Joseph church and of the Christian Mothers society. She was highly espected in the community and esteemed as a good neighbor and loyal friend. The funeral was held Thursday morning at St. Joseph church, Mgr. J. D. Fisch officiated at the rites and the interment was made in St. Joseph cemetery.
