She was born February 24, 1913, in Pontiac, IL to Dr. Arthur and Agnes (Webster) Lee. They came to Chelan in 1920, with their family when Dr. Lee joined Dr. Jacobs in his dental practice. Read More	ANNABEL LEE FLETCHER - Tuesday - September 26, 2006 Chelan - Annabel Fletcher, 93, died peacefully in Chelan on September 17, 2006, after a short illness. She was born February 24, 1913, in Pontiac, IL to Dr. Arthur and Agnes (Webster) Lee. They came to Chelan in 1920, with their family when Dr. Lee joined Dr. Jacobs in his dental practice. After graduating from Chelan High School, Annabel entered the nursing school at Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee and received her nursing training. Graduating in 1936, she accepted a position at Mason City Hospital where she helped care for workers injured during the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. She also worked for a year at Firlands TB Sanitarium and three years at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Prior to entering the Army Nurse Corps, she did private nursing in Spokane for two years. At the outbreak of World War II, Annabel volunteered to serve in the Army Nurse Corps. She was commissioned a Lieutenant and was to serve in the Pacific Theatre. Annabel served over three years in the Army Nurse Corps, most of it in the South Pacific. Following her discharge, Annabel returned to Chelan and married Ray Fletcher on March 31, 1947. She worked at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital for 18 years and then for Dr. Manley Wham until he retired in 1973. Annabel then went towork at Regency Manor in Chelan until she retired in 1980. She was a Red Cross volunteer for 30 years, a member of the Home Health/Hospice Advisory Board, a member of Valley Christian Center, the American Legion Post #108 and the Chelan Eagles Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and siblings, Gene Lee, John Lee, Nelson "Tom" Lee and Virginia Lee Easley. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Lee Fish of Issaquah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Annabel will be remembered by her many friends and colleagues as one who shared her love for others. Her warmth, spiritual wisdom and laughter will be a memory that we will all cherish. She touched many lives. A Tribute Service will be held Sunday, October 1, 2006, at 4:00 p.m. at the Valley Christian Center, 204 E. Okanogan Ave., Chelan 509-682-2610. Private Interment was at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Annabel's memory to Regency Manor, P.O. Box 609, Chelan, WA 98816 or to Valley Christian Center, 204 E. Okanogan Ave., Chelan, WA 98816. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
