The letter was written on February 17, 1919 at 3010 Starr St in Lincoln, where she lived and died. I received the money O.K. and sure came in time, I had just five pennies left. Well how's the weather treating you? It snowed here last week but melted as fast as fell. How's everybody down home? Were you to any dances? I would like to come home the end of this month would like to strike a hop. I've had the saddest misfortune. I lost my little pen and can't find it any place. I don't have the least idea where it went to. Our algebra is getting along pretty good you see we are divided into two divisions. Our division is supposed to be the best there are only about two dummies in our class. Will you send any valentines this year? I am planning on sending some. Say doesn't Tom Bartek go here to school? I am quite sure I saw him once but can't catch sight of him any more. I have a terrible cough got over night I caught it at sewing. I sit by the door. Of course it's open half the time. I don't have an appetite, don't know what's ailing me? Say you ought to come out for Saturday and Sunday. I am just dying to see some of you folks. I went to church Sunday, found my way alright. If I come home I won't go back until the 5:00 train. Last Saturday afternoon we went to a swell show only it sure was good to [illegible]. Only about two months of school left. I am just tickled to death aren't you? How are the kids there doing? Tell them to write me. Say, tell Ma if she wants a crocheted yoke she can get one for $1.00 at the ten cent store. I tell you they are pretty for that money. I got some thread and intend to make a yoke but don't know if I will get to it. Well, don't have very much to write. Say send me the Democrat so could read.
