Mrs. Stewart was born in Egar, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Franz and Anna Hurt Ott, on Jan. 17, 1926. She attended grammar and high school in Czechoslovakia and Germany. Annaliese "Ann" Hurt Stewart, 79, of 620 South Fifth St., a dedicated mother, homemaker and retired restaurant employee, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stewart was born in Egar, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Franz and Anna Hurt Ott, on Jan. 17, 1926. She attended grammar and high school in Czechoslovakia and Germany. In 1947, she met and married Ray Stewart while he was on a tour of duty with the United States Army in Germany. They returned from Germany in 1948 and settled for a short time in Ekalaka. In 1949, they moved to Miles City where Mr. and Mrs. Stewart raised their family. She was employed at the 600 Caf for more than 40 years. Mrs. Stewart was always cheerful and could be seen almost every day busily passing on that energy to others. She loved to work with people and so she touched many lives. She was always content in serving others and making them happy. A lifetime member of the Sacred Heart Parish, she raised her family Catholic. Mrs. Stewart will always be remembered as "Annie" to all her friends. She was a caring, loving mother, who was always happiest when she could help others. Her survivors include her husband, Ray Stewart of Miles City; her oldest son, Ray Stewart Jr. of Kalispell; Diana Poirier and husband Bert of Tuftonboro, N.H.; and her youngest son, Dennis, and his wife, Corey Stewart, of Great Falls. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Jason Poirier of Atlanta, Ga.; Derek, and his wife, Kelly Poirier, of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Leslie Stewart of Aberdeen, S.D.; and two nieces, Paula Jean of Billings and Marion of Brussett. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Ott, and a grandson, Kelley. A Vigil Service was held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial was on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal followed in the Calvary Cemetery in Miles City, MT.
